3th – 24th November 2024

The project "Revitalizing rural areas for sustainability" is a volunteering team project that aims to gather 20 young people from different countries (18 -30 years of age) to work on different creative and practical tasks in the community of Herzershof. By joining the team project you will develop your own skills in the field of building, crafting, art, agriculture, preserving food as well as your soft skills by living in a community. The group will also prepare a final event for the local inhabitants in the rural area of East of Brandenburg. During the first days there will be an introduction to the program. The volunteers will be asked to contribute and bring their own ideas to the schedule. The activities and tasks will be divided together with the group. We want to give our volunteers a great space for creating and turning into reality their own wishes and initiatives which are familiar with the aims of our project as well as with the aims and principles of the European Solidarity Corps.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The activity will take place in the rural area. The accommodation will be on the premises of the host. The accommodation will be in shared rooms and shared bathrooms and toilets. Here you can find some pictures of Herzershof:

Special needs can be respected. The volunteers will prepare their meals together. It is possible to visit surrounding towns, including Berlin, however the public transportation is limited and arrangements needs to be made beforehand.

Training during the activity

There will be an introduction-training at the beginning of the activity that will include team building, introduction to the tasks as well as introduction to measures regarding the safety and security. Further the group will be guided to implement the practical activities, through which they will learn and develop different skills.

Participant profile

We are looking for volunteers that are willing to work in a team, interested to learn about sustainability, agriculture and food preservation. At the same time you need to be willing to live in a community in the rural area and have an hands-on experience with building, agriculture and arts. English language knowledge on a basic level is necessary. Volunteers should be interested to get some new skills and be very flexible and motivated to implement the planned activities.
